Pride and Joy HEROs

donors heros lgbtq+ nonprofit Feb 10, 2023

We are incredibly grateful for our 2023 Pride and Joy HEROs. In November of 2022, the Pride and Joy Foundation launched our Giving TuesGAY campaign. We partnered with Chronicle Cinema to provide a special pre-release and private viewing of Conversion, a documentary about conversion therapy survivors, for our donors of any amount.

Part of our campaign included an option to be a 2023 Pride and Joy HERO as an official sponsor for all programming and events.

Our theme for 2023 is YOUR Voice, YOUR Power. Thank you to Dr. Getrude Lyons, RENEWPR, and Jill Davis with Storytellers Porch for being our Pride and Joy HEROs in 2023. Because of YOUR Voices and YOUR Power, we are able to amplify OUR Voice and OUR Power. If you are curious about being a Pride and Joy HERO for 2024, make sure to check back in November for our Giving TuesGAY campaign

Dr. Gertrude Lyons

“Together, we can start a new conversation around modern motherhood.” - Dr. Gertrude Lyons

Dr. Gertrude Lyons is a professional life coach who is focused on exploring, demystifying, and democratizing the maternal power that lives in all. Maternal power, or the power of feminine energy, is in receiving and creativity.

Dr. Lyons believes feminine energy is not just for women, but instead something we all possess. It is the power to birth something new into this world—a product, an artwork, a company, the list goes on. Because of this, Dr. Lyons believes that mothering is inclusive of all genders, so that collectively we can rebirth with a nuanced focus on the concept of what it means to mother. Motherhood is a transformational journey that all can take—it helps to empower and to love oneself holistically.

In addition to coaching, Dr. Lyons has a podcast that empowers people who identify as women to love themselves holistically by rewriting their mother codes. She also enables listeners to begin to embody the woman she always knew herself to be. You can listen to Dr. Lyons’ podcast, Mot(her), here. Follow Dr. Lyon's on social media: Instagram and LinkedIn. With the generosity of our HEROs and other donors, we raised $3,100 during our Giving TuesGAY Campaign to help spread queer pride and joy in 2023. Here are some of the programming and events we offer.

As a small LGBTQ+ nonprofit dedicated to preventing homelessness and suicide in the LGBTQ+ community, we are grateful for our donors. Our organization is run by two part-time/volunteer staff and a seasonal intern.

If you would like to continue to help us spread queer pride and joy in 2023 and beyond, there are plenty of ways you can support us:

Together we can use OUR Voice and OUR Power!
