Your Voice, Your Power: Call for Guest Blog Posts

Calling all writers! Our theme this year is Your Voice, Your Power . The Pride and Joy Foundation soft launched a guest blog summer schedule with the theme Your Voice, Your Power to amplify LGBTQ+ voices by publishing them on our blog and promoting them to our audience. We are excited to continue elevating queer voices with our guest blog series for Fall 2023. 

We invite guest writers to pitch their ideas for publication and promotion on our blog Here are some examples of the types of guest blogs for ideas:

LGBTQ+ authors with published books and/or books coming out

You could write your own post about your book and why you wrote it, who inspires you, a bit on the process or you can request our standard list of author questions for an interview type approach. Here are a few examples

• Author Written: Kate Fussner 
• Interview Style: Rae McDaniel 

Op-Eds & Essay

• Example: Halloween is Queer

Advice & Expertise

• Example: A Conversation with Quinten Foster
• Example: How to Talk to Your LGBTQ+ Teenager  

Personal Narrative 

• Coming Out Stories. Example: Coming Out to My Kids and How it Changed my Parenting
• Overcoming Challenges / Reflections. Example: Queer at Christmas.
• Ally Posts - especially parents, grandparents, advocates, and teachers. Example of an ally post from our former intern, Anshifa Sony. 

LGBTQ+ Owned Business

Similar to our authors, you could write your own article, or request a standard interview type approach. 

Lifestyle

• Travel
• Mental Health
• Education
• Hobbies 

Other- Pitch us your idea/draft! 

We are open to all things LGBTQ+ so pitch us your idea 

Submission Guidelines:

• Pitch your blog article to us centered around the theme Your Voice, Your Power. Do this by sending an email to [email protected] . The email should include your information and a link to your suggested article, OR the style of blog post you want and an outline of your idea. 
• Minimum 500 words, max 1500 words for the final article.
• Standard editing rules apply. 
• For citation purposes, information or facts used please link to the source you found it. 
• If your pitch is accepted, we will ask for your bio and headshot and any links to websites and socials and share your content with our community and in our newsletter. 

*If you use content from another blog that was previously published, we ask that you change the content at least 50%. 

At this time, there is no financial compensation for guest writers.  We are actively seeking sponsorship of our blog articles to provide stipends to our authors. The Pride and Joy Foundation operates on a part-time and volunteer team of two. Organizations interested in sponsorship can contact our Volunteer Executive Director, [email protected].

Image Guidelines

If you would like to send some images that align with your post please do! Make sure the images adhere to the general creative commons guidelines. You are more than welcome to send us general license stock images. If you take images/photos that are not yours, please make sure you have permission to share and credit the original artist. 

To Submit:

Send an email to admin at prideandjoyfoundation dot com with your pitch in Google doc format and our Director of Operations, C. Rizleris, will provide you with the Google drive link folder to upload images, headshots and bio. If you do not receive a response within one week, feel free to follow up. 

We post on Tuesdays and final drafts are due on Fridays before. 

By submitting and agreeing to blog publication on the Pride and Joy Foundation you agree to the following terms: 

• You grant The Pride and Joy Foundation permission to suggest edits
• All edits must be approved by the original author before posting
• You grant the Pride and Joy Foundation rights to use quoted material, links, and images in our promotional social media posts, newsletters and emails
• You agree there is no financial compensation for your work at this time.
